Newsletter No. 4 - ILTH at PLEF 2015, Tel Aviv
Dear Friends,
The 7th PLEF meeting was held in Tel-Aviv in October and was considered by all to be a big success! The Conference was opened by Her Excellency, Dalia Grybauskaitė, the President of Lithuania and was attended by many dignitaries, Cabinet ministers, scientists, businessmen etc. Whereas, most participants were obviously from Lithuania and Israel, there were others who came from other countries, thus, giving PLEF a nice international flavor. The Hub Team is proud to have been a partner for this Conference and its members actively participating in the various panels and discussions. Hub Chairman, Len Judes, moderated the Conference, Zeev Zelig, Director of Life Sciences, participated in the panel discussion termed “Advanced Technologies in Life Sciences”. Zvika Kezurer, Director of ICT, participated in the Panel termed “Industry: Switching to High‐Tech”, and Ronen Gruber, Hub CEO, presented on Israeli Agriculture innovations in the “Innovations in Agriculture and Food Industries” Panel. Ronen also lead a visit of the Conference participants to the Weizmann Institute of Science. Our Director in Lithuania, German Rudek, came over specially to participate in the Conference and meet local companies. Finally, our “Lithuanian import” Tomas Navardauskas, Hub Operations Manager, was also in attendance and fully engaged! Many meetings and discussions were held before, during and after PLEF, leading to many new ideas and initiatives for further cooperation between Israeli and Lithuanian companies, academic institutions and government departments. Examples of interesting opportunities which were discussed include, cooperation with the Municipality of Vilnius, University of Vilnius, Kaunas Free Economic Zone as well as with several significant companies and service providers (law firm, tax specialist and business consultants). Plans for the Life Science Baltics 2016 Conference, to be held next year in Vilnius were discussed with the LSB Organizers who were also present, and the Hub is already fully engaged in and committed to this. We would like to thank the organizers of PLEF, the speakers, the participants from Israel, Lithuania and abroad who attended, the Lithuanian Embassy in Tel-Aviv and the Israeli Embassy in Vilnius and other friends for the dedication and engagement! We look forward to further continued cooperation and engagement and to seeing the fruits of such efforts!
